Patricke Peartree
A Modern Day Johnny Appleseed
by Mike Bourgeois

Based on a true story, "Patricke Peartree" follows Patricke as he earns the nickname "Peartree" because of his fascination with his family's 75-year old pear tree that still produces fruit. This abundance spurs his interest in feeding the hungry with home grown produce.

Demonstrating a proven track record of food procurement for food banks, Patricke Peartree guides individuals and organizations willing to enlist their backyards and other properties in the fight against hunger - a fight that can be greatly helped by growing orchards and gardens to produce a harvest for local food bank programs.

In the process, Patricke provides food for thought for young people by teaching the importance of community involvement. The book is a demonstration of responding positively to negative events in life and much more.

As a teenager, the author's family required food assistance. Patricke Peartree was developed to plant the seed for the many ways that a person and families can make an impact in their community and a difference in their neighbors' lives.
